Twitcher help needed - Is it a chaffinch?

Keeping company with the finches, but more the size of a Goldfinch than the Chaffinches

Chaffinch taken at same time

Blue tit and goldfinch amongst the same twigs - all in a few minutes to give idea of scale.

Think it could be a leucistic (reduced colouration) Chaffinch. Whatever, it's a nice little collection!

I'm glad someone can spell! I wondered if it was a pale chaffinch but twitchers have ID'd it as a female brambling . . . . seem to remember them being mentioned a while back by a twitcher in a village magazine conservation report.

Havent seen a Brambiling for a while.

You do get some nice birds in your area. Perhaps we should consider moving there when we retire

With a bird repellent as a user name - or are you tie-dyed - it may be no wonder you haven't seen many birds!

At least I saw bullfinches when up in N and W Yorkshire.

Now that I did not know and I am not sure I really want to. I quick Gogle search found the following

"Anthraquinone is a post ingestional irritant".

Very depressing. It makes me sound very nasty indeed .

Why the name ? - I spent virtually all my (soon to end ) career as a chemist working with dyes and the anthraquinone series occupied me for a fair time. I will now have to change it.

I did wonder - good job my brother in law is no ton the forum - he works for Pfizer!

Good luck with your retirement - you will be able to waste as much time as me taking pictures! Really pleased as made over £200 this month for charity through photography - £50 last week for a couple of prints and re-cycling £170 (made up to £200 by my Rotary Club) for photography forums and going back to the local Youth Group. The print sales have raised over £200 so far for a local Childrens Hospice.
