The two photos I didn't submit for this month's "Movement" contest

For this month's Pixalo photo competition, I submitted the photo I submitted based on my wife's insistance, but I think like one or both of these more than that photo...I hope it's no problem to post them here, but I resized them both for pixalo, and I'd really like to show them, even if they're not submitted for competition. (Both are straight out of the camera, aside from a resize in irfanview, no cropping, editing or anything.)

The theme for this month is MOVEMENT. I thought the two photos had that theme going for them.

I'd really appreciate some comments and constructive feedback if possible. I am a complete newb, so don't be too harsh!

The first one ould do ith a bit o editing I think, such as contrast and saturation, but that second one if superb! Really conveys the sense of speed, and is nicely composed, with lots of interest throughout the frame, me like!

As subjects for the competition you chose extremely well Good timing on the 1st shot & I like the way you're left with just the single pin standing , whilsts the rest are flying everywhere.

Agree the 2nd shot gives a great impression of movement. If you're new to this, you've started on the right foot & obviously have a good eye for the subject. Looking forward to seeing more of your shots

Re: The two photos I didn't submit for this month's "Movement" contest

Thanks for the kind words on the train photo...I'm wishing I went with train instead of the entry I did use. Ah well, live and learn. I'll be ready for April. ;-)

Also, regarding the lighting of the top photo, I'm having problems brightening things in programs like DxO and irfanview without really getting some ugly high-ISO grain in the image. Any advice? (Other than take photos with a better ISO! ;-))

LIghten it and then run it through software like neatimage or something (noise reduction programs), it works like a charm!

Thanks! I found: Neat Image - best noise reduction for digital cameras and scanners

I'm assuming that's the software you were suggesting? I'll give it a try and see if I can't get some more appealing results next time.
