Thanks EosD

They were all taken with a D70 and 70-200mm VR lens (except fo the orangutan, which I thnk was with a 50mm F1.8).

I used Aperture Priority with all of them, with apertures between F2.8 and F5.6 (if you want specifics ona certain shot, let me know and I'll dig out the info!)

The Orangutans shot could have been improved if you had used a larger depth of field and focused on the baby and thrown the background and the parents arm out of focus. As it is shown here you have omitted a large important part of the subject, a parent/baby picture is always going to be a bigger draw than a single orangutan.

Thanks for the comments everyone

Steve - the orangutan pics were taken through very thick, very scratched and very dirty plexiglass, surrounded by a mob of screaming children....I was glad to have got anything at all!, but yes - in an ideal world I would agree with your comments.

I am sorry if I come accross as having a go at you but if you had posted the difficulties that you encountered as you where taking the pictures, it paints the scene better for us outsiders and allows us to offer more specific advice and comments that you may be hoping for.

Just my 2p worth

Sorry steve - didn't mean to get all defensive...

I welcome all comments and would much rather receive constructive criticism like yours than comments like "that's nice, well done"! lol

Keep it coming I'm learning all the time and it's people like you who help
