Unseen York
Spent last weekend in York with wife and friends - managed to get on my own with the camera for a while. My first outing with a Canon 24-105 F4 L IS. Hope you enjoy them.

Re: Unseen York
Off the beaten track, Stephen. Is this in/around the Shambles? When I was last there I could not move for the people!

Re: Unseen York
What an interesting idea StephenO, the first two have a real feeling of 'inside looking out on the world'. I don't think the internal side window adds much and slightly distracts so I think I'd crop that out and just focus on the people walking by. The blur gives a real sense of activity and that adds something to the image.
The models in the Jaeger window have a feel like a scene from H G Wells 'Time Machine' as brilliantly brought to celluloid by Orson Welles. The main character sitting in his time machine watches the passing of time by observing the changing fashions on the dummy in the clothes shop window across the street. I wonder what will be in that window in 20 years from now! I had to look a couple of times at the last two to see what they were showing but then I saw them as a real contrast: one perfectly clean and uncluttered, the other filled with rubbish bins and a touch of graffiti. Probably in a printed form, this would come out stronger because they would be side by side. Really good work, very thought-provoking. Cheers, Rob

Re: Unseen York
Dabhand - yes it's the maze of alleys that run between the Shambles and Petersgate.
namllihs - appreciate your comments, the intention was to get away from the normal tourist shots. Rob - thanks for the objective comments and you're right about the side window |
