I think so too - I normally go for monochrome but the subject tones in this don't have a great enough range for it to work

I'd agree with that, the mono is too close in its tones/textures. The colour one is close too, is there any scope for selectively tweaking the satuation to give more seperation?

That's where I start to have trouble - I'm partially colour blind !!

Spxxxx - that's three of us on the forum a bit colour blind - me too! I think that the tweaked colour one has the edge.

Well, there are them that maintain I'm totally blind but, in the hopes you don't object, offer up the following for your inspection:



Levels to extend the mono further - white point. Curves to further contrast. Colourise to add a little "interest". Sharpened a bit. Bordered

Exactly same processing as I mentioned in Dabhands Mono Shot

Mono Mono Mono Mono

I quite liek your first conversion Spxxxx A ****ble pull in of the levels to increase the blacks might be all it needed
