Visit Navy

The reason for the car parked helicopter made itself clear - the Navy had a couple of boats (OK, ships!) in town

Never did find anyone to ask as to the whys and wherefores of their visit but did manage to set off the proximity alarm wandering down the dockside, which did provoke the appearance of an armed sentry (sorry! )

HMS Kent (frigate) and HMS Mersey (P=patrol, I think!)

Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 20mm, 1/25, F11, ISO100

Ships and Bridge
What I can best describe as undoubtedly a Bayer sensor shot with the fairly detailed result but 'smoothed' to a 'nutella' finish. Shot's not been de-noised or manipulated to any large extent - and not an unpleasant look to it!

Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 13mm, 1 sec, F22, ISO100

Kent's Stern
Maybe a little dark for some monitors, but I liked the hint of internal workings and the internal lights

Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, 1/55, F22, ISO100

Breakfasting Cormorants
Not all naval - a bunch of cormorants turned up for their sunrise meal!

Canon 350D, Canon 300mm F4 IS L, 1/100, ISO100

All comments whether good, bad or indifferent, very welcome!

Re: Visit Navy

Nice shots, like the cormorants, look like they're in formation. Btw the "kent" shot has a good bit of noise in the shadows.

Re: Visit Navy

Cheers, Jack! Yeah, inevitably going to get noise pointing into the sun with the deep shadows - but reckoned it was dark enough not to bother 'tidying' up!

Re: Visit Navy

Here ya go mark, I was relatively bored, so I decided to see if you liked the result or not...
