A walk in the fog & Valentines

Here are a couple of pics from the last few days.
The first was taken last Saturday at a place called Tindale in the North East of Cumbria. It was a really misty day and I hope to put on a few more of the pics like cows in the mist later in the week.

I was taking a picture of a tree in the mist, turned around and there was my father and my youngest son pointing at a sign post. It turned out that my father was showing Ruaridh the different letters.

I didn't like the hay bails behind the sign so thought blowing out the detail might work

This Second image was taken last night. I realised that it is valentines this week and so thought I'd try something that I saw in a book years ago. The paper of the book was a bit shiny and reflected the light quite a bit, but I was quite happy with it.

Any thoughts ?

Allan

PS Thanks Matty for the help with the Gallery.

Clever stuff Allan ! Not sure about the brightly blown out sections on the first ... personally speaking ! It tends to over-power the picture which for me is a shame because it is a seriously good composition with tons of potential ... imho of course !

The second is very clever too - making your own cards for the loved one ?

TFS ...

Hi DJW - I won't take it to heart, in the same way I'd never realised my username shortened to KIM until the other day on the assignment forum. It must be the kilt that does it

Glad you like the pics. The original top picture just looked so lifeless that I thought I would try to create a postcard style pic. The 2nd was more a case of no time to get a card for the Mrs.

cracking shot, the first one, love the way you have done it, and a great idea for the second.

I realy want to like the first shot, the idea for the effect is great, but I feel the image itself is to washed out, and the vignette just reinforces that. It may be the screen on the g/f's laptop that I'm using at the mo though. The second one is a great concept and well executed.

And I knew you were a bloke. The MAN bit of your alias name kinda gave it away. Someones obviously been on the Bostik again!
