Water - new territory
Discovered a new level of water photography, which, as far as I can remember, I have never seen before. Would appreciate all comments, but couldn't limit myself to just one in critique, so have had to put them here
Starting off with the usual, 'standard' shots: ![]() ![]() Then my drop appeared to be smoking, not sure what happened here tbh: ![]() Now for the new bit, I best let it explain itself: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All ready for you look to look at in the morning. Hope you enjoy, and like I said, all comments welcome TFL Jack

Re: Water - new territory
Very interesting Jack, great shots & detail, am stuck on the last 5 shots though, don't know what to say
, I'll take a wild guess & say would they have something to do with ice?

Re: Water - new territory
The first three are gorgeous. Not sure I really 'get' the rest. Clearly they are well shot but for me they lack a clear focal point and not knowing what I am looking at doesn't help. They are not quite abstract enough to work as pure art while not containing enough information to be assessed as photographs of 'something'.
You have got me motivated to do something with water though! Looks like there are some good images to be had. |

Re: Water - new territory
I've been having a play with some water droplet shots as well, they're fun do try but difficult to get the timing smack on so well done on those!

Re: Water - new territory
Last one defo the best and most interesting - but then I'm the first to admit that the whole water droplets thing doesn't really grab me!

Re: Water - new territory
It's about seeing what you can't see with your eyes Mark
![]() The 'abstract' 'ice' ones are, like Angela said, what you will see if you photograph a tap when it's full on. Most people do it when it's dripping, but I thought, why not...and that's what came out. It does look very much like an icicle, and with obvious reason, but it's still running water ![]() Thanks for the comments. |

Re: Water - new territory
Outstandingly sharp, and like the way you might think of ice. You are right about what you might see as I have spent hours looking through ice shots with light, "much easier then water". Good set Jack and inspirational in tone quality.

Re: Water - new territory
Thanks for the kinds comments Boofers. The sharpness was - I think - due to the fact that I decided to use manual focus this time, and the bright D300 viewfinder allowed me to actually see what I was taking first. I like the tones too, I am impressed with the camera's performance, not sure how much of it is down to me
I was trying out the JPEG modes, so these were all in JPEG, not RAW, and required very minimal processing on the comp. (the colour ones were with a flash gel). Thanks Summer too J |
