Re: waterfalls
Nice selection and explanation! I have been known to use shutter speeds as fast as 1/80 before now (all depends on the water as to what looks best, for me)
And is 6:00 in the evening here, so early!

Re: waterfalls
A very nice set, Sue
Interesting comparison with the different settings, but the thing they all share is the delicate nature of these falls.I like #2 best as it shows more of the bottom and the others have it cut off. |

Re: waterfalls
Very nice set indeed and also find no2 the best as it shows more of the water at the bottom

Re: waterfalls
Nice set, enjoyed them all with #2 my favorite mainly because it has the best view of the fern (tree fern?) on left hand side. Ferns and waterfalls great combination. Andrew

Re: waterfalls
thankyou for all comments..
I do enjoy the waterfalls , and agree with Mark depends on what your after regarding shutter speed...would like to see the one you did on 1/8o sec if you still have it . i like atmosphere and nature that surrounds the falls . |

Re: waterfalls
That one makes the water look almost like fur.
Of course, direct copmparisons of shots taken of differnt falls, or even the same falls at different times will not give a good impression of what settings will produce any given effect. This is because the other factor in the equation is the speed of the water flow. You can only really compare shots taken at the same time with different settings, and it woud be difficult to judge what settings would produce any given effect in a different place until you have taken many, many shots and you can build up your experience.

Re: waterfalls
I like the 1/6 f9.5, even the f16, I have no water falls around for great distances. I would love to take pictures at some of these places that have been on the boards. thanks for shareing.

Re: waterfalls
another great shot Mark ..is that ice on edge of water left side ...brrrrr but worth it.totally agree with dabhand, thats were we are lucky as its always the two of us when we go on photo expedition and it is interesting when we go through shots later just on the difference in images that we both end up with and again the dif in settings we both use ,Suppose it comes down on how we both look at something and what effect each of us is after.
my favourite part of this image has to be the ice |
