Waves and the Wind - statue

This is part of the statue by Sir Antony Caro positioned on Poole Quay which cost £120,000 but was paid for by the Arts Council so it didn't cost the local people anything. I only thought to post this after reading Namhills thread and picture of Sockman in his home town.

This is just part of the whole: it is, at a guess, about 15-20m high and has three platform levels built into it so that you can go up onto the platforms and 'become one with the sculpture'.... Caro's words, not mine! Not one I love but I have got used to it now as it has been there for at least 18 years.

This picture was taken one early evening when we got a stunning sky so this is entirely genuine. The metal of the sculpture took on the light as its colouring but in daylight it is actually blue. I took this a good 4 years ago with a Minolta Dimage 5 but has done very well as a postcard which can still be bought down at Poole Quay and in local shops

Cheers,
Rob

Fantastic sky, I think almost anything photographed in front of that would look good. You've done well to get the exposure right and this is a good angle to give an idea of the scale of the sculpture.

As for the sculpture, I'd want to see it in all it's glory before commenting, but a nice shot definitely.

cheers

Dan

Looks more like a painting than a photograph, I remember photographing a sunset a while back and it had a similar effect. nice shot though.
