White Peak Snow

Awoke early and it was belting it down; thought that it'd be grey for the day but the sun came out at the same time as, unfortunately, the wind got up, so the trees began shedding their covering. Oh, White Peak is part of the Peak District....... and was white!

#1
The Snow Sun

10-20mm @ 10mm, f/22, 1/50, ISO100, handheld

#2
The Snow Shadows

10-20mm @ 20mm, f/13, 1/160, ISO100, handheld

#3
The Clear Walls
There'd only been a slight breeze when it was snowing but this was sufficient to coat only the one side of most walls

70-300mm @ 80mm, f/16, 1/160, ISO100, HH, mono

#4
The Golden Line
Sun disappeared and more cloud rolled in from the north

70-300mm @ 95mm, f/16, 1/160, ISO100, HH

#5
The Rusty Horse
Was struck by how similar the horse colouring was to the corrugated iron shed!

70-300mm @ 300mm, f/14, 1/400, ISO100, HH

All/any comments very much welcomed, as always!

Re: White Peak Snow

A nice set!

It's good to see people getting up early for the good light and long shadows

Re: White Peak Snow

I like 1 & 2, they are very nice snowy scenes... but the last is my favourite, the composition is great with the angle you've shot it at making the shot for me, simple but very effective.

Re: White Peak Snow

Nice pictures. I like 1 and 2 the best. I am looking forward to the spring to get down there and start the anual orchid hunting. This time with a canon macro lens.

Shots 1&4 for me. None the less they all convey the scene very well. Nice shots Mark.

Re: White Peak Snow

Many thanks for the comments, everyone! Appreciated!

There's something about the early morning light (over evening light) that makes early better (as well as the minor point that most of the snow had melted by day's end! )

Well done Mark, brings back memories for me, of happy times taking my kids tobogganing up near Buxton, when We lived in Congleton.

Re: White Peak Snow

Some great shots there mate, trying my hardest to recognise the area as I live in Sheffield on the border of the peak district and so go there lots. For the life of me I don't know where that is. BTW you live close so we must meet up some time for lunch etc.

Cheers, Gary! You'd probably recognise it in general terms, just not on the usual routes - down from Arbor Low (keep meaning to pop up there again for a sunrise)

Now that I'm up here full term, I'm defo up for meeting up
