Wild Stag
Caught this fellow at the head of Glencoe. My 24-105 was already on the camera so I had to go in quite close - though I was ready to run. TFL.

Re: Wild Stag
I am surprised that he let you get that close. I like the first one much more than the second as the fence in 2 takes away some of the wild feeling. Did you crop it that tight ? I would have preferred not to have its legs cut in half.
Running would not have helped. As I was told by a ranger in the Hluhluwe game reserve "Do not get out of the car. Everything in this reserve with the exception of the tortoise can run faster than you" . On second thoughts you may have been able to beat a legless stag

Re: Wild Stag
Such a majestic animal, when I was in Scotland last year the wife and I (still sounds funny does that) went to a place where these guys and girls have there own reserve. No way I could get that close though, Great colour as well.

Re: Wild Stag
Really like the first one. Agree about the fence.
Might it have been good to get down low, include the whole body and put come scenery in behind, maybe even zooming out a bit? Just a thought |

Re: Wild Stag
Both great shots Stepheno
![]() 2nd one would be even better with a crop to include just head-shoulder/antlers, then you could clone out the bit of remaining fence + trees, which would at the same time give us a closer look at his/her gorgeous face

Re: Wild Stag
Right, Stephen...when are you going to learn: To get that shot, you need to risk your own life...take someone with you; your mate can pick the CF card up after the deer leave

Re: Wild Stag
No.1 for me
![]() Although I agree with the fence comments about No.2 - hence my preference for the 1st - I am just chuffed to bits, and a teeny bit envious, that you were able to get so close to such a beautiful creature. It's not something that happens everyday (well, not to me anyway!)
