This may be of interest to other Pentax istDS* owners

Was looking into a cable release for our pentax istDS* , did a bit of research and discovered that the canon RS -60E3 shutter release is compatible with the pentax istDS*.

one of our camera stores in town ,actually suggested that we buy the canon RS-60E3 shutter release cable ,as it was half the price ,and is compatible.Mind you there was only two people that actually agreed ,the third person was into the technical side and agreed.

We had my camera with us ,and had agreement ,if any damage was done to my camera due to electronics in camera we would have my camera replaced.

so plugged it in , gave it a good trial and purchased the RS-60E3

have been using it since and no problems at all

As obviously this is one of those things that like anything, if you use anything outside what the manufacture recommends ,obviously their is no warranty or gurantee ,its soley your responsibility if something happens to your equipment.

But thought we would share this with other pentax istDS* owners , that way you then can do your own enquiries and research and decide if you wish to go this way.Just remember anything that any of us use , that is outside what the manufacture recommends , IS NOT covered by warranties or gurantess,so make sure you are willing to accept responsibility if something goes wrong.Or do what we did ,if camera store actually suggest it ,have them take responsibility if your equipment is damaged.

The reason for us going for the canonRS-60E3 was the pentax CS-205 shutter release cable was ,the CS-205 was $90.00 (AUS) and the RS-60E3 was $49.95 (AUS)
so virtually we got two for the price of one.
