Dell 2007WFP Monitor

When i read the write-up of this monitor in Digital photo, I was not sure whether to trust the rating: they gave it five stars in every category! So, being in need of a new monitor myself, I decided to read a few more reviews on the internet. I read quotes like 'I am a huge fan of this monitor...' and 'This is the best monitor in its class without a doubt...' and eventually decided I would take the plunge.

So, what do I think of it on early impressions?.....

I am a huge fan of this monitor and if this is not the best monitor in its class then I'd love to see the one that is! After a few years of my 19" CRT that came with a Tiny computer (yes, I know, but that was years ago and I soon realised my mistake!) I really wanted something that would calibrate better and be better for photo editing as well as make my eyes less sore with extended use. This monitor is absolutely beautiful. Crystal clear, pin sharp, perfect size with lots of extra features.

I won't go into all those now as I will be writing a proper review of it in the next day or so. Suffice for now to say that this is a superb buy and anyone in the need of a new monitor will be delighted with this one.

Review to follow. Cheers,
Rob

Re: Dell 2007WFP Monitor

Nice one Rob, I look forward to the full review

I allmost went for the 24" model which was listed on ebay at a good price but decided to keep the cash for other things... I still keep thinking of changing my mind though

Re: Dell 2007WFP Monitor

Thanks for your review, rob, I found it interesting as I'm getting close to looking around for a new monitor, and I've decided to go for a 20/21" widescreen, but I don't have very deep pockets!

The rewiews I've seen always give Dell good reports, so your assessment is right on line with the others.

I looked on the Dell web site, and found that the do two 20" widescreen monitors.

The 'Ultrasharp' 2007 WFP at £402 and the E207 WFP at £272.

Am I right in thinking your one is the Ultrasharp?

Re: Dell 2007WFP Monitor

Yes Dab, mine is the Ultrasharp version and by golly what a difference that makes! I can't say anything about the E207 version as I haven't seen it.

Keep in mind that I paid £280 for the Ultrasharp version so whatever you dp. don't pay the £402 Dell sell it for. I got the exact same 3 year Dell warranty as well.

Cheers,
Rob

I just ordered one from Dell today. They have $A200 off the price for this week only. I can't wait for it to arrive!

Re: Dell 2007WFP Monitor

A word of warning if you have Vista I got the 3007 for my new set up but the OSD etc are all software dependent and DO NOT work with Vista 64 bit as yet so I can't calibrate/profile the monitor.

I've been using mine for 2 weeks now and I'm impressed. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an LCD.

Re: Dell 2007WFP Monitor

Hi Rob What's the angle of view like. If you have a uniform even background of white displayed, is it white all over or do the edges go a bit off when you move from side to side? I have an Eizo Flexscan and its probably the best Iv'e seen to date. The Dell 2007 does not give the 178 x 178 viewing angle a spec limit. The Eizo gives it as 178 degrees @ 10:1 contrast, but it still is white. Most lcd's seem to go off colour at the edges as well as a big drop in contrast.
Regards Brian
