Spyder 2 pro
There is not a section in the reveiews for this so I have posted it here.
I got a copy of this from warehouse express for £150.00, it comes bundled with printfix plus as well. After installing the software I set about calibrating my monitor, the on screen instructions are very easy to follow but it is worth reading as much as you can about the software and help files etc before starting, if you cant get the screen to do as it is told by the software it can get very frustrating. If I had read the f###### manual 1st I would not have experienced the problems I did. After reading the instructions and help files it took minutes to calibrate my monitor. Profiling the printer was fairly easy as well and the print detail (shadow highlight) etc is now much better. The problem I had was it all seemed too easy. That was untill I started trying to apply the profile in PS etc. Still a lot to learn about profiles but I think this was a step in the right direction. |

Re: Spyder 2 pro
Hi gary
I purchased a Spyder 2 kit recently and profiled my CRT and Laptop LCD. I recently bought a 19"TFT and did that as well. I read the manual first Certainly a big improvemnt all round including the printer profiling. In Photoshop you need to set the default settings to the new profile, for on screen editing. This way PS/CS will use the calibrated monitor and WYSIWYG hopefully If you are then going to upload to the the web save a copy of the file with the profile changed to SRGB ( The most common profile for web viewing - correct me if I am wrong ) Re size 72-150dpi and the uploaded image will be vibrant and match most peoples generic monitor settings for viewing the web. As regards the printer profile.. well that's a whole new ball game and has problems of its own. You shoudl able to set a customised profile for your printer based on/around your new calibrated monitor profile, so that, what is printed ( in theory ) is what you see on your monitor. Best of British !

Re: Spyder 2 pro
PE Sorry I was so late in thanking you. I had seen that but I was looking for any workspace setting. Yes my monitor is calibrated but I wanted to see if Lightroom had workspace profiles as well. It appears not to but works well enough with my printer profiles.

Re: Spyder 2 pro
profiles and working out how to get the best from display + printer is a minefield!
![]() just on the dpi,. you don't need to change the dpi setting as it is ignored on the web (as are embedded colour profiles in inet explorer) some links for ref Digital Cameras and Genealogy - The Myth of DPI Say No to 72 dpi Sil |
