Re: Angel of the North
It's a great shot Mick, although I think it might be better if what I think is a fence in the lower part of the picture were either cloned out or cropped off....I think they distract from the rest of your image.

Re: Angel of the North
Think there's a little too much black
Hope you don't mind: ![]() Crop, Shadows/Highlight to pull detail out of dark, touch Saturation |

Re: Angel of the North
Good shot, but like said, either use mark's suggestion, or crop all the way to near the base of the feet on the original. Interesting crop, it would be. EDIT: Yoda, unfortunately, I am not...

Re: Angel of the North
I like the crop, but would have also shaved a bit from the RHS - to around where the 'o' is in your name.

Re: Angel of the North
i like this a lot, and i do agree the crop certainly improves it. I kinda like the space on the RHS tho, guess its a personal taste thing.

Re: Angel of the North
I like the photo and especially with the crop but....I have seen the Angel many times and my only critiques is that the shot doesn't portray the size of the thing. I get the feeling it's a silhouette of an ordinary person holding a surfboard or something.
Please don't take that remiss I still think it's a very good shot |

That being the case I may be making a boo-boo too .I too like this shot but it stuck me also, even though I have only seen the 'Angel' it in the passing, that it might benefit from having something [a lone figure looking up?] to emphasise the scale/size.I am guessing, nightfly56, that you reckoned the tree left would provide this scale. |

Re: Angel of the North
i personally like the cropped version ,but agree with Water , that you need something other then tree to magnify the size.however top shot

Re: Angel of the North
to be honest at the time I took this photo I never really thought about the scale of the thing it was just one of those point and shoot moments, plus the fact it was freezing cold and the people I was with were rushing me to get back in the car, still liked it when i loaded it onto the PC.
thanks for all the feedback I do find myself thinking before snapping now Mick |
