Beauty and beasties
![]() Crocus from the garden today ![]() And a few daffs ![]() And this little beast - found during a break from gardening ![]() Not sure if this is beauty or beast - depends if you like cabbages. Making the most of the unseasonal warm weaher - garden tidier but ache in places I did not know existed! |

Re: Beauty and beasties
Nice shots but a bit soft. I notice the file sizes are quite small - could you not use a larger file (less compression) and thereby retain some image quality?

Re: Beauty and beasties
Maximum file size for an image is 200kb. I'm sure if you saved for web with a file size of about 19hb you would see an improvement.

Re: Beauty and beasties
![]() Sharpened and save for web TLF action at 197kb Is this any better? It looks sharper to me. I usually "fit image" to 600 or 800 pixels and save. |

Re: Beauty and beasties
I love the crocus Fang, just one tiny bit I don't like: the single web thread across the top right leaf. I find it rather distracting. I have had a little play to remove it to see if you agree. I am guessing you have manually blurred the BG off in post-processing (couple of tell-tale bits around one petal, that's all!) but it has worked effectively so shows that you can get a strong image with a bit of careful work, even if you took the image with a narrower aperture originally.
Love some of the sharp detail on the left petals and the orange stamen. Lovely spring image. Cheers, Rob

Re: Beauty and beasties
cracking images, and you can definately see an improvement in the larger size image. the cobweb away defintately makes it better, i guess sometimes the tiniest of details can make a huge amount of difference!
well done great shots! Fi |
