Re: Infrared Thread.

I'll second that, nice one. I've had a beef with ACR sence day one. Now with adobe as a whole sence they have been stiffing Apple products with funky photoshop programs. But we want to remain visibly happy, don't we.

Thanks - Yes I wish Adobe would fix the Converter for this. If other software can do it why can't the expensive one do it!

Re: Infrared Thread.

I've been shooting some macro with this camera now. Tried out various white balances off green, and the recommended on Lifepixels site white and red.

After processing the RAW in DPP (Adobe can't cope with the WB) and then finishing off in PS here's some results. I've labeled any tinting / colour channels swapping where I did so. Otherwise it's just auto levels.

Infrared Gatekeepr on flowers. Taken on Enhance Colour Infrared Converted Canon 20D with Canon 100mm Macro Lens. ISO 400 F5.6 1/500 Natural Light. Red & Blue Channels swapped.

Infrared Soldier Beetle. Taken on Enhance Colour Infrared Converted Canon 20D with Canon 100mm Macro Lens. ISO 400 F5.6 1/250 Natural Light.

Infrared Rhopalid bug on thistle. Taken on Enhance Colour Infrared Converted Canon 20D with Canon 100mm Macro Lens. ISO 400 F5.6 1/500 Natural Light. Tinted.

Infrared hoverfly on flower. Taken on Enhance Colour Infrared Converted Canon 20D with Canon 100mm Macro Lens. ISO 400 F8 1/250 Natural Light. Red & Blue Channels Swapped.

Infrared crab spider on flower. Taken on Enhance Colour Infrared Converted Canon 20D with Canon 100mm Macro Lens. ISO 400 F8 1/200 Natural Light.

Infrared Ringlet Butterfly. Taken on Enhance Colour Infrared Converted Canon 20D with Canon 100mm Macro Lens. ISO 400 F4.5 1/2500 Natural Light.

Re: Infrared Thread.

I like um' all but the crab spider is pretty cool. I have found that with the camera calibration tab in ACR I can set up my camera how I want it to look with the white balance that I would want to have on my camera. Completely forgot about the adjustment.

Agree, there are some incredible images and ideas here.

It's a while since you put this message up and you may well have solved the problem by now, but what was the shutter speed when you took your IR shots? It's a long time since I did any IR, so I cannot remember the limitations of the film used, but your problem sounds a bit like reciprocity failure at a guess.

Dave Cannon brought it to my attention in the photo questions a few days ago. I had forgotten about the tab. It seems to work really good once you have your white balance where you want it, you find tune it there, I guess.

Re: Infrared Thread.

It's certainly blued the skies. I'm liking the yellow/blue contrast this brings out. What is it looking like when you convert to black and white on this conversion ? I think I read it should be as good as the 720nm one. Mine is supposedly softer.

Re: Infrared Thread.

When reading on lifepixel they said that you will have some fringeing along some edges because of the contrast between them. I found that you can cool it down some with the Hue/Saturation using the sliders at the bottom of the pop up and spliting the ends or one end, or you might say dragging out the color blend arrow on the end . It seems to lessen the fringe if you have the right color chosen in the upper drop down. Thanks for the comments.

Still no joy although havent revisited as finding it hard to keep up with processing my slide film shots at the moment.

I used several different manual exposure times, and when dark room printed the results looked semi decent. Struggling tho to mirror the results in a scan work flow.

Awesome Dartmoor set Chris. The colours in No.3 are just superb

Re: Infrared Thread.

Chris, I see your expermenting with your processing,,it looks pretty good but more then that I really like the landscaping of the area your in.

Simpbow, I like #2 simply because i have been working when the right picture comes along to use the colors you have here. Very close to perfect in my eyes although I would have tried to add some whiter highlights in the straw. What a great spot and find.

Re: Infrared Thread.

I do like that scene you found Simpbow - just can't decide which of the processings I prefer.

Thanks Boofers = the Dartmoor landscape is about 3 hours drive for me - but was down playing golf around there a week or so ago. Very dramatic scenes available there.

Here's another one - processed in Topaz 5 this time from that trip.
