Macro photography is...

...hard on the knees

I spent ages trying to get a good shot of the countless honey bees, bumble bees and other insects that were on a particular bush yesterday. Those critters just move too damn fast to capture! I only ended up with one that was half decent:

The focus is ever so slightly off, and the background is a tad distracting too.

Its also a 100% crop

Anyway, hope you like.

Re: Macro photography is...

I have to say that considering itís a 100% crop it is still mighty sharp Joe!!

Is this bush in your garden or close to your home as it is likely that you will get many more chances to get that perfect shot (should you want to attempt it again).

Personally I don't feel the background is that distracting, on the whole it is uniform green and with a little bit of care you could reduce or possibly eliminate the section at the bottom. Weather its worth the effort as itís a 100% crop only you will be able to decide.

I appreciate everything you have said about them being fast and it being hard on the knees, whoever says this photography lark is easy has not attempted anything seriously tricky like macro photography.
