Re: Mist in the valley
Probably the blue haze from lack of (I am assuming...) UV filter.

Re: Mist in the valley
lol, me? Stalker?
Hehe, no all I did was adjust the colour balance as far away from blue as possible, resulting in a rather orange image, not doing any favours for the mountain as you can imagine, so I added a layer mask and painted away the bits on the mountain (except the shadow), and tada, a less blue mist! |

Re: Mist in the valley
I think I prefer the original since it has that early morning mood of warm sunrise contrasted with the coolness of mist from the night.

Re: Mist in the valley
This is very interesting Gary, you didn't see that strength of blue there but that is how it came out. Not sure if you remember my shot of derwen****er in the twilight of evening that I showed a couple of months ago. That is much the same, the strength of blue that came out was very strong in the photo but less so with the naked eye. of course colour disappears quickly in the evening and the camera sensor is nowhere near as sensitive as the human eye so reds disappear much more quickly whereas blue is the last colour to disappear. This accounts for why you saw it more red than the camera did and the same with my shot.
I do like the shot, even with the blue as it sort of divides the picture into two regions and adds more depth to it. but then i also like the adjusted shot as it has a warmth that the original lacks. Worth remembering that this is a user-predictable result when we are taking low light shots: that the camera is likely to lose reds fairly quickly so we might need to compensate for that in ppro. never been to Mam Tor (nor heard of it come to that) but it's certainly photogenic ![]() Cheers, Rob
