'Mono' for the Club Comp.

This is the effort I'm gonna put into my local Camera Club's 'Mono' Competition later this week.

Taken in Padstow Harbour looking over to Rock.

Any thoughts..................

It certainly looks nice and sharp but if I'm honest the conversion to B/W isnt quite right (I apologise if this was shot in B/W). It looks like a colour photo thats been saturated, as opposed to looking like a B/W pic from the start.

Still like it but the balance just doesnt seem right.

Nice capture with the sky really making the shot well balanced. It may be the way that you have processed the low res version or the amount of sharpening but you have some haloing appearing between the sky and the trees on the far horizon. I would also remove the one stump or top of post that is creeping into the bottom right of the shot, it only distracts and adds nothing overall. Otherwise a nice capture.

I have also broken the link as your picture exceeds our 160kb file size rule. If you want to, resave and then replace the [img] tags.

indeed. as above really. However, and this is just the way I like My photo's to look, so is in no way to be construed as an opinion

I would've cropped it so the sky was more than 2/3 of the image, and gotten rid of the grassy area to the left as the mooring ropes from the boats just keep drawing my eye to it. Mostly as I feel the sky is the strongest element of the imge. I would also try and go back and spend a little more time trying to reduce the halo effect around the trees on the skyline.

Cracking shot.....I love the contrast of the B&W. Everyone has different opinions on how B&W should look, but this works for me
