There was a moth at work the other day which didn't have the same markings as this but I've never seen one so big (moth)

Whilst I was walking down an old railway track last August I spotted this on some Rosebay Willow Herb. It was huge - about 100mm long and just about the ugliest caterpillar I have ever seen. I thought it was an Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar.
