Re: Sydney
I almost like the shot as it has been well seen but I cannot for the life of me work out what is going on at the bottom half of the image, is this through PP?

Re: Sydney
Nah, is all Sigma RAW conversion - is a side effect of the control for pulling up detail from shadows (used in reverse has this effect!)

Re: Sydney
i take it ,its a reflection of opera house in top ? sorry mark doesnt do it for me.If the opera house was bit clearer i think it would be different. But i dont know if its my monitor but i love the shade of blue in top of building with what i think is opera house.
i do like your originality with this shot , that being, seeing a feature through a reflection. As have been to sydney and opera house , its not just a reflection of near by subject .Havent been for few years so trying to work out where you took shot from that if it is opera house am sure it is

Re: Sydney
I've been back to look at this shot three times now, each time struggling to find the words to write what I think about it.
I started to look at the top of the image and thought, wow this looks amazing, as I scrolled down the image lost it for me. I presume thats because of the orton effect? (I've not read much into what that actually does to the picture, I'll go find that thread in a moment). It might be because of the haze thats on the main side of the building - if the main side was as clear as the right side (does that make sense) it would look much better. Can we see the original please? |

Re: Sydney
Not your usual standard Markulous!!
I recognised imediately it was the Sydney Opera House but then ,like the others, it loses the plot somewhat as you come down.

Re: Sydney
ooh thats lovely. Look at how clean the glass is!
I much prefer this un-ortoned version if I'm honest. I like the strange cartoony effect of the angle and the reflection. Its a shame that marriot hotel is there, with blue sky filling that part of the image it'd look lovely on the wall. |

Re: Sydney
Less is definitely more in this case Mark, i.e. less special effects is far more effective! You definitely oughtn't have Orton'd this one
