Rules for the Photo Sharing Forum

Why this Forum ?

"Photo Sharing Forum" is where members can post several images into a thread as and when they wish. This forum is the place to informally show pictures for GENERAL comments only. Members should only expect broad comments and not detailed critique due to the number of pictures that will be submitted.

If you require in depth, considered, detailed advice and critique, please select an image and use the "Photo critique and comment" forum.

This section will also cater for the less experienced members whom may not like showing pictures in the Photo critique and comment forum for fear of harsh critique and comments. We all like showing our work and this site appreciates that people are at different stages of photography and many shoot just for fun.

Photo sharing forum rules

• NO Nude shots are allowed in the Public Members Gallery or Photo Sharing section of the Community Forums, they can be shown in the Photo Critique section only, as long as they are within the Rules for Nude shots at Pixalo

• Images displayed in the Photo sharing and Critique forums must belong to the poster or be posted with the copyright holder’s permission.

• Pixalo respects all copyright law; any images displayed remain the copyright of the owner at all times.

• While we can not stop people saving, copying or distributing any images shown here, we expect our members to respect the owner’s rights. If people are proven to be breaking these rules, they will have their account removed.

• Images posted should be no larger than 1000 pixels on their longest side and have a file size of no larger than 300K. Off site links can be provided to larger images if you wish.

•The Crew will have complete discretion on what is suitable and their decision is final. If you are in doubt, contact one of the Crew before submitting your photograph.
This is a forum to informally share your images.

Comments are meant to help you improve your work. However, in this forum, comments will be more general in nature than those found in the Critique Forum and may be jocular too. Those posting comments should keep in mind that this is the forum that people who are new to the site, and perhaps are new photographers too, will probably post images in the first instance. Simple expressions of approval or dislike along with an explanatory comment are enough to tell a photographer why you think a photo is good or where it could be improved.
If you want other people to be able to show you what can be done to your image rather than just tell you, Tick the ‘edit image’ check box at the bottom of the page in ‘edit profile’ in your user control panel. Seeing the changes that could be made to an image is the best way of improving your skills.

When offering comments, please be constructive and friendly. When reading comments on your images, remember that because web discussions lack facial expressions, body language and nuances of voice, the emotion and attitude you read from a message is often a reflection of your own feelings, and are not necessarily what the poster meant.
There are no limits to the number of images you can post in a thread, or the number of threads you can start. However, please exercise common sense when using this forum.
Feel free to give any information on your camera settings or ask any questions you need the answers to.

Do

• Only post your own images, or have the owner’s permission to post.
• Ensure your image file sizes are below 300kb.
• Ensure the largest side if the image is not more than 1000 pixels.
• Check the edit photos box to allow others to show you what can be achieved with your images.
• Give honest, dignified and respectful critique and comments.

Do Not

• Post nude or risqué images.
• Post images, or links to images whose subject matter is outside these guidelines.
• Take any negative comments personally.
• Take offence at, or read more into comments than is there.
