Guidelines for Equipment Review Section

The aim of this section is to allow Members to share their own personal reviews of the Photographic Equipment they have in a simple & quick manner. This information will be of great benefit to all members & especially those looking to upgrade or change their equipment. We can all read the magazine reviews, but personal reviews mean so much more from members you know & converse with.

Steps to follow to post a review

General advice on how to score a product, is to base your scoring taking into account the cost of the item. Although a £3000 lens is going to be better than a £100 lens in terms of performance, does it represent good value for money as part of the equation? Therefore a cheaper lens can score as high as more expensive lenses on this basis.

Once in the review section of a piece of equipment you want to review, click on the "Post a Review" to the right of the product name.

Pro's Section - Write short key points that you feel are the positives of the product

Con's Section - Write short key points that you feel are the negatives of the product

Recommend - A simple yes / no choice based on your overall feeling

Price you paid - List only new prices, as s/h prices will give a false average. If you did buy S/H but know the price new at the time, please feel free to enter this price. If not, leave blank

Rating 1-10 - With 10 being the highest score, rate the product accordingly. Take into account advice above about value for money. If you are lucky enough to have a product you class as a 10, judge all other reviews against that one for comparision & thus making rating easier.

Your Review - Your chance to share your experiences & thoughts on the product in as much detail as you want. Try to consider what you would find useful in others reviews & try to incorporate accordingly. If you can only think of a couple of lines to enter, that's no problem.... all input is appreciated.


What to do if your Product is not listed - We have tried to list all current products in each section. If we have missed any or you feel a recently discontinued product is worth reviewing, please add to the feedback link below & we will look to implement ASAP.
