How to use the Members Gallery a step by step guide
How to use the Members Gallery a step by step guide. In the following posts I will guide you through uploading photos in to the members gallery and also how to display them properly in posts on the forums by using the new photo popup function. At the end I will also show you how to clear any photos you may have waiting in your gallery photo queue. For ease, the posts have been split in to four sections. Part one (this post) Gallery upload screen overview and functions. Part two Step by step guide to uploading photos. Part three Displaying photos in forum posts. Part four Clearing your photo upload queue from the gallery. Ive added the red numbers so that you can easily see and locate the sections. Below is a brief overview of what each one does.

Re: How to use the Members Gallery a step by step guide
Part two – Step by step guide to uploading photos to your free space in the Pixalo Members Galleries. The following assumes that you have already altered the sizes of your photos so they do not exceed a file size of 300kb, and the longest side must be under 1024 pixels. If you need help resizing photos for web use, please look here. To use the gallery, you must already be logged in to your Pixalo User account. Before clicking ‘Upload/Submit’ in step 8, ensure that you have selected your required options for 11, 12, & 13. These control email notifications on replies, whether members may rate (out of 10) your images and if you wish to allow comments on a per image basis. If all goes well when you click the ‘Upload/Submit’ button you will see a message confirming that your photos are being uploaded. Once they have been uploaded a new screen will appear. If you uploaded just one photo you will be automatically redirected to it in the gallery and you are now finished. If you uploaded more than one photo, you should now be presented with the ‘Process Page’. Below is a screen capture of a section of that page containing just two of my 10 uploaded photos. For each photo uploaded you can now edit any/all details as required by typing in to the text areas or selecting different options from the drop down boxes. Once you are happy, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find a button labelled ‘Process’, click this to finish. |

Re: How to use the Members Gallery a step by step guide
Part three – Displaying photos in forum posts. In the ‘Quick Reply’, ‘Reply to Thread’ and ‘Post New Thread’ boxes you should see a new camera Icon that looks like this . This links to our new feature which allows each user to visually select photos directly from their galleries and embed them within threads and posts on Pixalo without leaving the forum page. This also removes the need to copy and paste complicated links or mess around with [img] tags. There is very little to using this new feature being as it was introduced to make things simpler; however I will guide you through using it to embed a couple of photos in to a thread reply. It doesn’t matter if you are using the WYSIWYG editor or, like me, the simplified version, the process is exactly the same. The photo(s) will always be inserted at the position of your cursor on the page. Overview I have split the window in to three sections and coloured them for clarity. As you can see the window looks like a small version of our gallery. The different sections let you perform the following tasks:- 1.Here you can close the window once you have finished. 2.If you have set up some personal galleries, they can be selected through this drop down. 2.Here you will see thumbnails of your photos in the galleries. This section is where you select the photos simply by clicking on them. Let’s begin. I am using the ‘Quick Reply’ but it works the same for all our ‘Reply/New Post’ options. I want to place a picture first in my reply (before any text) so I go straight to the camera icon. When the camera icon is clicked, a new popup box opens showing my photos. Apart from the pictures being different, the box will look like this for everyone and will always open your own galleries. To include a picture I simply click on its thumbnail here. The software automatically places the correct code (including the [img] tags) in to my reply on the forum. Continue to compose and format your post as required. When you want to include another photo just place the cursor in the correct location, then in the popup window click on the thumbnail of the picture you wish to include. Including your photos as required is as simple as selecting them from the popup window. Remember though that the photos will always be included at the position of your cursor. Click on the ‘Close this window’ link in the top of the popup window to finish and then post your thread/reply as normal.

Part four – Clearing your photo upload queue in the gallery. The following assumes that you are already logged in to your Pixalo User account. Go to the Pixalo Members Galleries. Ignore all options and scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see the following. You will now be taken to the process page where you can complete the task.

Re: How to use the Members Gallery a step by step guide
Things like 'Edit, Delete, Post a comment, Report, Send as an eCard', etc. are now accessed via a drop down menu (Photo Options) at the top right of the show photo page. You delete photos through that option now.
Hope that helps. |

Re: How to use the Members Gallery a step by step guide
Yep. When looking at your photo at full size in gallery, at top right is little pull down titled Photo Options. from the list choose edit photo & then you will see an option to change category
Let me know if that works, as I have a slightly different menu under Admin. |
