memory has absolutely dropped through the floor price-wise now, so many memory card retailers all battling with each other to sell cheapest. I have a 4Gb card that i have been using in my 20D for 9 months which i got from 7dayshop and it has never let me down.
I have enough memory now as I have my Epson P2000 40gb drive that goes with me on all photo shoots and I can download the contents of a card very easily. I just keep a couple of 1gb cards as back-up in case of a card failure. Mind you, if the 40D has a 12mp sensor, that will mean file sizes that are a lot bigger so maybe i will get another 4gbs then, I'll wait and see. £18 is frankly giving them away! Cheers, Rob

Guys be extremely careful when buying your memory cards. I know of two photographers who thought they were getting a great deal on cards only for them to give up halfway through weddings with NOWAY of retrieving the images.
These cards look and feel identical to the real ones but are counterfeits and often work for months with no problems only to fail at the worst possible time. See here for one of the many reports on ebay Last edited by Martin W; 26-01-2007 at 15:58. |

I have read somewhere that these cards are made by another company (reliable and sturdy) but just have 7dayshop logo put on them, i'd supply a link, but can't remember where i had read it.
You're right though Martin, but if you're being paid to do something that cannot be repeated the you should buy a respected brand of card. But for my needs (mostly as back-up to my more expensive cards) they are fine, and it would be rare that i would use them, but always nice to know i have them if need be! |
