Well they still haven't announced a price for the new Sigma 200-500 2.8 but I suspect that will not be cheap. It's all about speed. 1200mm at 5.6 is something else. That's a whole stop faster than my 600mm with a 2x convertor and far less optically compromised. It can take a 1.4 TCon and still be only F8 thats as near as makes no difference a 1700 F8
 On a crop body 2500!!! There was an 18 month waiting list for them when they made them.

LOL, so I can gain a full stop and it will only cost me £50,000? Well someone hold me down, let joy be unconstrained!
Obviously if you happen to be a pap who sells pics of Brad Pitt's illicit kisses then spending this money on a super snooper won't faze you. Anyone else would need their head testing!.... ..... no forget that, ANYONE would need their head testing.... a pap snapper needs that anyway, expensive lens or not <g> I am just wondering, how about if I prelude a request to my other half to get a 600mm L series ofr JUST £5,000 by explaining that with my 2x TC we'll be saving £45,000? Hands up all those who think this is going to work.... <take their names and get them sectioned!> Cheers, Rob

There are about a dozen of these lenses in existence. Sports Illustrated magazine owns two of them, as does Canon Professional Services and James Jannard, the billionaire founder of Oakley.
