Re: Wireless Slave Flashgun Trigger
is the loss of TTL worth it?
My D50/SB600 combo doesn't have the luxury of wireless operation so I'd find this of interest however the whole flash thing is a bit of a mystery to me so I rely on TTL to get the exposure right. Wouldn't want to go down the manual road just yet. |

Re: Wireless Slave Flashgun Trigger
Yes in the "old " days Auto remote slave flash was easy using the internal camera front facing flash and the slave to bounce off the ceiling to remove the shadows or for a more creative lighting effect and with TTL metering. All syncronised with a simple photocell and thyristor built into the slave flash gun. Even the cheapest slaves (about £15) gave good results for fill slave flash!!.
But now with the Pre-flash required for the correct functioning of the digital cameras this can't be done unless you spend a lot of money. |

Re: Wireless Slave Flashgun Trigger
No TTL, so I found I was working through trial & error. Had the camera wired up to Nikon Camera Control, feeding a Folder I had auto imported in to Lightroom. This meant within 2 secs of taking shot I could see results on tethered Laptop & then fine tune Flash output accordingly.
1st tryout here :- Lo Key shot with Wireless Slave Flashgun Trigger |

Re: Cactus Wireless Flash Trigger V2
Just delivered to me today! (eBay copy) Have to say, looks like a damned useful bit of kit, and well worth having for everyone for £20!
Have had not problems using the SB800 on Manual, something I often resorted to when triggering it with the pop-up flash anyway....only use TTL for normal bounce shots with standard lighting in mind. See this thread, and one in Critique for examples of shots taken using the system |
