Re: CS3 for Half Price
Its a great offer but you have to laugh...
If you select full version and 'ship box to me' the cost is £284.94 If you select full versions and 'download' the cost is £293.42 ![]() That doesn't make sense to me unless they are hoping that people are impatient ![]() |

Re: CS3 for Half Price
I wonder if this is an indication that a new version CS4 will be released later this year then
It's not like Adobe to be generous More likely they're looking forward to cashing in on all those ppl who buy CS3 at half-price now but paying the other half for upgrade to the next version.Quote:

Re: CS3 for Half Price
Why are they doing that?
![]() Yes, it makes the price a little more reasonable, but it's going to upset anyone who paid the full whack last week, so there must be a reason. ![]() EDIT/ Started writing this before Charlotte's reply - so that could be the reason! |

You are probably right though Photoshop is aimed at the professional print industry more than photographers. Perhaps many decided to skip CS3 an wait for CS4. My comapny did that XP / Vista. I wonder how many more features can be added to PS that are really useful and not just nice to have. Perhaps there is a growing resistance to a new version every 18 months.

AQ, my age is not as tender as my avatar would have you believe

Most of the books on PS seem to be aimed at photographers, so I think that is an indication of how popular it is among photographers. Your company didn't get XP, or didn't get Vista?Couldn't agree more. |

Re: CS3 for Half Price
Shock Horror - Alady concealing her age. !!!!! I had assumed that you are younger than me, as a large majority of the people in the world are, so that makes you of a tender(ish ?) age
![]() My turn to be cynical. I do not work in the print industry. I suspect that a lot of the Photoshop book industry is based on the number of pirated versions of PS that are around. It is not difficult to get it for free and then people want to learn what to do with it. If it was impossible to pirate I wonder how much it would be used by amateur photographers and then how many books would be sold. I did wonder if that had anything to do with the cut price offer but then realised that even at half price it would still be widely pirated. Even if it was £25 it still would be. Obviously I cannot be certain about any of this but it is what I feel. We skipped Vista. I.T. did not want to touch it with a barge pole. No reason to use it. XP is fine and stable. Vista offered nothing for a commercial organisation. Apparenttly they may look at the replacement for Vista. I guess it depends on what support there will be for XP by then. Re: CS3 for Half Price
Will Adobe Also Reduce The Price Of Cs2 Now. As I Would Probably Consider
That As An Upgrade From Elements 5 . As I Could Not Justify Buying Cs3 Even At Half Price. How Much Is Cs2 Now Does Anyone Know? |

Re: CS3 for Half Price
I think the only chance you will have is if a software seller has a copy lying around Woody. Adobe will not sell you CS2 now, they are only promoting CS3. I'd treat e-bay with caution - there are a lot of forums with people who have been ripped off. Last time I looked the prices were still high.
The half price offer is open to users of any Photoshop or Elements product via an e-mail from Adobe with a code attached. If you have changed your e-mail address since you registered a Photoshop or elements product you won't get the e-mail, but quoting your serial number to sales ought to get the job done.

If you keep looking you might well find CS2 at a good price, and if you do it is well worth getting. You can later upgrade it to CS3 if you want. The current upgrade is about £150 or less I think. |

Re: CS3 for Half Price
The problem with CS2 is that later versions of ACR may not work with it, so for new cameras you need CS3 if you want to use it for RAW processing. I also understand that Bridge is much better on CS3, although of course I haven't a clue what I'm talking about because I haven't used Photoshop since version 3.

THANK YOU GRAHAM I WILL HANG ON TILL I CAN GET CS2, I AM NOT KNOCKING
ELEMENTS 5, AS IT HAS BEEN A GOOD STARTER FOR ME. BUT I THINK CS2 WOULD BE BETTER. I MIGHT TRY AND FIND A FREE TRIAL TO SEE HOW I GET ON WITH IT. |
