Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

They have some keen prices, but the only time I've tried to buy anything from them it wasn't a great success. I ordered a Canon G6 a couple of years ago, and when it turned up it was a US import. They refunded and blamed their supplier, but it still cost me for return postage. Others people seem to have had good service, so maybe they're a bit variable.

Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

Ye, because their webbie doesn't give stock info I phoned em for a Sigma 10-20 lens.

The sales guy was snotty as. We all know about Sigma and the quality variation you can get with apparently the same lens. I mentioned this concern and that I'd heard many people on the web had mentioned the possibility. He got rather shirty and was pretty disparaging regarding "Internet Forums" in general. I did mention that hundreds of people saying the same thing have probably got less of an agenda than a salesman saying it's bull****! He didn't enjoy that.

A bud wanted a 10-20 as well. He phoned again - due to the ****ty security on their website - and they had none in stock. He asked if they would contact him when they came in. The answer... "No".

Nice company likes

Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

Ah, must have spoken to same guy ...... seemed quite short when asking for item description when I offered an order # instead. Ah well, I'm sure people searching in Google for Bristol Cameras may well come across this thread soon ...... some companies haven't a clue of the impact of poor customer service

Gotta love companies that see doing business with customers as an enormous inconvenience . Well, will avoid em in future.

Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

I have to admit, I can't complain about them. I made an order recently - actually for the Sigma 10-20 - but forgot to add something else I wanted. I telephoned the next morning and the guy was very polite, delivery was fast too. Must have been the way I batted my eyelashes, lol.

I've had bother with Bristol Cameras too, same thing as Dave with a tripod - I hate the fact that these companies hang on to your cash whilst taking as long as they like to dispatch.

Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

Mmmm...I've just been looking for a lens for my Pentax and Bristol Cameras have it cheaper than anywhere else. Not sure I'm prepared to take the risk and might just pay a bit extra elsewhere.

Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

Apart from 1 negative for advertising something not in stock, they don't look too bad...

DealTime.co.uk: Microglobe Compare Prices & Read Reviews

But those are all pretty old reviews, so don't know really.

EDIT/ Some more at Microglobe: Read Reviews and contact information at Kelkoo.co.uk but again not very recent.

Another edit/ Microglobe are also London Camera Exchange, if that helps!

Re: Let down by Bristol Cameras Ltd

Well credit , where credit is due, they just phoned me this afternoon to say they have some stock in & do I still want one. As a) I haven't ordered one elsewhere yet & b) they are cheaper by £35 than anywhere else, I've eaten humble pie & ordered it there

Hey I've got morals, but they slip a bit where saving some money is involved
