I'm wondering if some retailers will be marking it down the the January sales. I guess it will depend on how sales go over the Christmas.

Am thinking they marketed it too late in the year, not exactly christmas stocking material at that price , although sales will probably soar early next year with all the hype.

I think the D200 took about 10 months to drop below £1K

I was talking to a friend that works at Calumet photo and changed my mind about getting a D300 I'm getting a couple of good lens instead like the
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Lens, and
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Lens ,
I even sold a D200 I had decided to keep my D80 with the battery grip wich I absolutely love. he was right when he explained that 90% of the time you dont need to upgrade its just the "I want the newest camera" fever, I think its wiser in my case to get the lens instead...after all for me its JUST A HOBBY.
