removing spray adhesive from prints

I've been mounting prints on mat board using 3M 45 spray adhesive this past week. These prints are destined for the local county fair photo competition/exhibit.. (and they are looking AWESOME- i wish I could post a likeness of what they look like on paper and mounted)...

As promised during my research, that spray adhesive gets everywhere and occasionally, I got a blip on the surface of the print.

I did some research into what would work to remove it and not kill the print. I tried 99% alcohol and that didn't work.. Didn't even scratch it.

I googled around and came up with this:

http://www.amazon.com/Bestine-Solven...dp/B006SOK9YY/

Spill some on a rag, swipe once maybe twice and the glue is gone. from the porous mat board surface and from the photo. Great stuff.

The quart container will likely be a lifetime supply for me..

Re: removing spray adhesive from prints

Thanks for this Loyd. In the past I've used lighter fluid (petrol) with some success, but I always try it in a print of no value first!

Re: removing spray adhesive from prints

I had a print that was ruined that I tried it on. Sprayed adhesive on it, gunked it up and then hit it with this stuff. It was like magic and didn't even make the print surface soft..

I sure wish I could make a iiving at this stuff. I get more pure enjoyment out of it than I do of anything else I ever do..

.

A lot of people would agree with this. Unfortunately, too many people. Very few make it as a pro 'tog without having to do other stuff too to keep the wolf from the door.
