USB Card Reader

I've been using a cheapo 7dayshop card reader which is excellent except that it won't read SDHC.

This looks very similar except for the transparent case, and does read SDHC. It's only £4 and has good reviews...

35 in 1 I remember when 5 in 1 was state-of-the-art.

Re: USB Card Reader

The Hama card reader dropped through the letterbox this morning and seems to work very well. Another advantage over the 7dayshop one is that the CF card slot is a little deeper, so there's less chance of misaligning the pins when inserting the card.

Re: USB Card Reader

Nothing! This is for the Linux machine.

I fitted an internal card reader in that, but there was a slight glitch - not sure if it's the particular make of reader I got, or a more general thing. It posted a voltage change every second (part of its card detection circuit?) which was picked up by the OS and written to a log file (kern.log), with the result that the log file was being updated every second and written to the hard drive.

In the end the easiest solution was to take it out and stick an external reader on the top of the box. The external reader does not cause any problems.

I have a spare internal card reader if anyone's interested.
