Nice shot!

Been up Cadair Idris a couple of times but all I've ever had is a Sea King rescuing a hiker (though pretty hairy with the up/downdrafts on that day!)

Capturing them sharply is a challenge - but of course the excellent Nikon 3D tracking AF mode helps a lot

Yes - and a crowded CAD West too - up to 30 togs up there at one point

That's a shame (both for the hiker and you) - as if the rescue 'copter is out, all low flying stops.

And thanks to everyone for the positive comments - really appreciated.

Think the low cloud would've pre-empted the lack of low flying - we were in mist on Penygadair (the summit) on that occasion

Good shot.
I take it the vapour covering the wings is caused by The Prandtl–Glauert singularity effect.

Well I knew the drop in air pressure over the wing causes the air to get below the dew point and hence the appearance of the vapour, but I never knew the name of the phenomenon, so thanks for the info

Re: Low flying F15 Strike Eagle

Fantastic shot.

I had 2 Typhoons scream over the top of the house yesterday - they were flying low and close together and were both banking so looked superb. I was outside and camera was inside, but even had I been stood there waiting for them you would have to be really nifty to get a good shot.

Fantastic shot. Several years ago and halfway up Scafell Pike a low level flight passed below coming up from Wasdale. Where was the camra ? in the bag. Still I live in hope of catching one like that one day.

Nice one PeteT, excellent capture.

There is a guy out there called Dimitri (i think) who has a very similar website address to mine (remove the - between dt and photography) and some of his photos of planes are stunning!
