Thumbs up 2 Step Process to get Dramatic Mono Skies

Want to turn a rather bland sky in to a more dramatic sky, in 2 simple steps ? When I say 2 steps , I mean clicking 1 function then changing one variable ....that's all there is to it . Example shots below

Nope.... should say the process was applied to the "before" pics ....not straight from colour....plus you can repeat process to get even darker background to sky

Thumbs up Re: 2 Step Process to get Dramatic Mono Skies

Time to share

Step 1: Add a layer Gradient



Make sure gradient is from top to bottom ....you may need to click reverse tab. Notice how the shot looks now



Step 2: Change Blend mode from "Normal" to "Overlay"



Job done

You can of course add another gradient layer & I find around 20% opacity is the limit. You can also play with gradients to alter how far they come down the screen.

Anyway , hope it may be of use & happy playing

Forgot to mention, if you are after darker skies, try converting to Mono using 100% red in Channel Mixer first
