A Bridge Workspace That Works
Photoshop guru Jack Davis presented his workspace for Adobe Bridge, and I have been using it for a month and love it. It seems much more intuitive and therefore promotes faster navigation.
It does several things. It creates tabs in a horizonal array at the top of the screen. It widens the preview so that you can check each image for focus, etc. It gives a large area for the file tree, and makes it very easy to switch from profile to file to favs to metadata, etc. ![]() In the default view of bridge, click on one of the lower tabs and bring it up to the upper tab until you get a blue box, then let go. The order in which you drag the tabs should be the one you use the most first, the next frequent one second, etc. I use the preview then the folder most often, and so those tabs end up on the left side of the tab row. ![]() Once you have the tabs lined up, drag the line dividing tabs from the thumbnails to the right. I dragged it so that there was only one row of thumbs remaining. ![]() That is all there is to it. Click on the folders tab to view your files, ![]() and the preview tab to see a large preview of the image you selected. You can do everything that you always do in bridge, rate, select, etc, and you can obviously move the verical dividing line to see more thumbs. Oh, btw, 1 click is better than 2, so if you don't like control 1 etc to rate, go to edit/preferences and uncheck the "require control" box. So try this. It really makes bridge actually fun now. skip |

Re: A Bridge Workspace That Works
Excellently presented there Skip, thanks for that. People are often put off using Bridge as it is not the most intuitive bit of kit but as you have rightly shown, it is very powerful and excellent to use once you get to grips with it.
The screenshots are extremely helpful and I am sure many will find it eye-opening. You have worked hard on presenting it in a way that is clear, precise and practical. Well done! Cheers, Rob PS Boss, give this man some Reps ![]() |
