High Key
![]() 1.- Open image and Duplicate the background layer, turn off the original you will not use it again until the end. - Go to IMAGE/ADJUSTMENT/LEVELS, Set the White Point Slider to 175, you have to restrict most of the tone in the upper tonal range. 2.- Duplicate the Background copy, now you have background copy 2 on this copy add some diffused light, first press D on your keyboard to revert to default foreground/background colors, - Go to FILTER/DISTORT/DIFFUSE GLOW, you can play with the settings here for this image I used, 9 Graininess, 8 Glow Amount, 16 Clear Amount, click OK, set this layer to Screen Opacity 90%. 3.- Add a new Layer, Select the Eyedropper Tool, with the eyedropper click in the lightest part of the face. - Go to SELECT/COLOR RANGE, set the Fuzziness to 79 click OK. ![]() 4.- Now that you have an active selection go to EDIT/FILL, set the contents to WHITE. - Now go to FILTER/BLUR/GAUSSIAN BLUR, set the radius to about 74 pixels click OK, and Ctrl+D to deselect, set te layer to Soft Light and set the Opacity to about 75%. 5.- Select the Background copy and press Shift+Ctrl+E to merge the layers. - Now you can Darken a little the remaining dark tones, Choose the Burn Tool and set the Range to Shadow and set the Exposure anywhere from 10 to 25 I used 25 on this image. OK Now you can STOP here, or you can do ONE more little touch on the image remember the original hidden layer, here is where you can use it, turn on the Background layer, then go to the background copy and add a layer mask now press B to select your Brush Tool, choose a very soft Brush make that brush as big as the whole face, set the opacity to about 5%, click once, Flatten your Image, and YOUR DONE !!! ![]() Play with the setings maybe you get another effect you like more !! ENJOY!!!!!
