Lightroom Droplets
Well the other tutorial seemed to bomb .....
so we'll try thisSo we all know that Lightroom is great for most of our processing but there are times when we could do with adding a photoshop action to the export part of it. Well you can by using droplets. Create your action as you would normally - but you need to add a step at the end to deal with saving jpegs - and this is by using the save as. Running the Save As when recording the action, just hit Ok without changing the file name or location, and choose your desired quality. Open Photoshop and go to file > automate > create droplet ![]() In play select the action set and action name required THEN click on the choose .... ![]() Type the name for the droplet required and select the destination directory ..... the export actions folder on a mac can be found at /Users/xxxxxx/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Export Actions ![]() Then click OK ![]() Open Lightroom and to use the droplet - file > export ![]() Click the drop down box for after export ....... it is usually set to do nothing ........ and select the droplet you have saved ![]() click export ![]() Lightroom first exports the files to the parameters you set in the other parts of the export dialog box and then initiates photoshop and runs the droplet to run the required action |

Re: Lightroom Droplets
Thanks very much for that. I have a couple of underwater actions that I would like to have used within LR but didn't know how. Will give it a go later this evening.

Re: Lightroom Droplets
Your a star !!! I used to export shots & then run a batch action through CS3 to get end result. Now much simpler. Thanks Simon

Re: Lightroom Droplets
Only thing I would add to list of actions, is to "close" image at end, otherwise you end up with every shot open in PS.
I gave this a go & tested it on exporting 3 shots, which the actions worked perfectly on. Tried it with 120 & it didn't When I lloked at PS with the 3, I could see LR exporting 3 files 1st, then it appeared to open 1 at a time in PS, apply the action, then on to the next. Any ideas why it isn't with a large number ? I assume it's opening them serially, rather than all in parallel ?

Re: Lightroom Droplets
you are right - it exports first then opens photoshop and runs the actions.
I have used it to batch hundreds at a time with no problems. IHAVE had problems in LR thinking I had selected a large number and intact it hadn't and had stayed with thelast used number. Now I always check the bottom left of the screen in LR to see how many have been selected. Can't think of any other reason |
