Interesting diffuser shot, I might try the tissue approach on my flash gun, still can get a reflection on the shinier insects with the MT-24ex.

The focusing rails are also called macro bellows. They attach to the tripod and camera, and allow you to move the camera back and forth, and with some focusing rails (eg Velbon Super Mag Slider) side to side as well by turning a screw on the intrustment. Good for precise control as you set your lens to the desired magnification and then move in and out with very fine control. Obviously for moving insects they are not much use!

Re: Macro photography tutorial

Marcin, an excellent tutorial - thankyou. Considering that English is not your first language, I am doubly impressed

It has to be said that your pictures are truely inspiring, have you considered selling them? I am sure there would be a market in some specialised magazines for such good work as this.

Cheers, Alan

Important note

If you like macro photography take a look at Igor Siwanowicz work. He is probably the best macro photographer in the world at the moment. His photos could be found here: Photos by Igor Siwanowicz - photo.net

Re: Macro photography tutorial

Yep a really brilliant tutorial so much so that i have sent for a macro lens and i have made a diffuser out of a plastic milk bottle.
I have been messing around with my zoom and diffuser trying to get some practice in until my macro lens arrives,i think i have the bug now(no pun intended)
