Position.
Hi guys need a hand for something that i have not done alot of,last few days have been grey & overcast so i decided to photograph some plants, as i said i havent done much of this so what would be the best way to position a whole head of a flower in a image? i put mine just slightley off centre but not to sure if this is right or not.

Re: Position.
That is fine ,overcast & bright but not dull is excellent for flower and plant photography,
a tripod will allow small apature use A polariser will cut any glare on glossy leaves hope this helps |

Re: Position.
As regards positioning, I recommend "going with the flow"! In other words, run with what the plant kind of suggests: tall plant then portrait, broad then landscape, etc. Then use anything in the plant to guide the composition
Here are a couple of collages taken at the National Botanical Garden of Wales (brilliant place, highly recommended). As you can see, no set rule but I've tried to use the shape of the plant to guide the comp ![]()
