Re: Straighten an Image with CS3
Thanks a bunch J !
Just saved this page to My Favorites (under "Tips from the Pro's")so I can go back to it right away once I'm done here. ![]() By the way, I'll sure have a few additional pics after the storm subsides ... already 30cm of fresh snow and perhaps another 5 to 10 by the end of the day today. ... shovel ... shovel ... push, push, push ....

This will work with earlier versions of Photoshop as well. I am not sure how far back though

Re: Straighten an Image with CS3
Tried with CS2 and it would not work
Eyedrop tool has additionally only Measure and Colour sampler I just go to Image>>Rotate>>Arbitary . One quickly adjustes to how much angle to add Bwep |

Re: Straighten an Image with CS3
I forgot if you can do it or not in CS2, but I can tell you how to do it in CS3 or Lightroom if you have that
hopefully someone with CS2 will come up and verify |

Re: Straighten an Image with CS3
From my day with CS2 I am sure its the Measure tool you want. The icon looks like a ruler but if you select that and then click and drag along the horizon that will do the trick.

Re: Straighten an Image with CS3
I forgot to say you can do this in a more visual way using the crop tool. in CS2 and CS3 at least.
Drag a horizontal guide out of the top ruler and set it on some part of the horizon. If the rulers are not visible hit Control R. Then pick the crop tool and select the whole image. Position the cursor just outside one of the corners of the image and it will change to a bent arrow, Drag this and it will rotate the whole image and you can align the horizon with the guide line you have set up.

Re: Straighten an Image with CS3
You CAN do this in CS, CS2 and CS3. I am acually pretty sure you ca even do it back in PS 6.5 so is a tool that has ben around for a long time. Yes, it is the Measure Tool you need to use. Some people refer to it as the Ruler tool because the icon is a ruler
![]() Must say, I wouldn't want to try and guess the rotaton degrees to enter into arbitrary box, no matter how many imes I had done it. I know you can get a rough idea but you get the amount in hundredths of a degree with this method, much more accurate than you'd be able to guess with the human eye. I don't have Elements on my computer now but can anyone tell me which versions of Elements this also works with? Cheers, Rob
