String "Tripod"

Here's a cheap alternative to a conventional tripod/monopod, which you can make at home for next to nothing. Haven't tried it myself, but it looks viable. Feedback from anyone who gives it a go would be helpful.

Re: String "Tripod"

Neat idea.

Some people used to do a similar thing with the old TLR cameras that had a waist-level viewfinder at the top. You could loop the strap under your foot and pull the camera upwards to steady it.

You used to be able to buy gadgets like that I am sure. Another one -that I still have! but have not used for at least 20 years-(goes off to look in mirror, checking for wrinkles ) Is a neck loop with a metal rod that fits into the tripod bush. Loop goes round neck and adjusts so that camera on rod is at right level.

Did I explain that OK?

Re: String "Tripod"

Like Silky said, this is as old as the hills. I was taught this trick by my dad when he gave me my first camera aged 8 and I still sometimes use it to this day so well done Charlotte for pointing it out. A lot of people make things overly complicated when there are much simpler ways to do things so always good to remind us to KISS.... Keep It Simple Stupid!

Cheers,
Rob
