viewpoint!!
Just a couple of tips for people who are starting to find out about the wonderful world of photography.
Im sure we have all heard or read about the rule of thirds, where by dissecting the image you see in your viewfinder into thirds and placing subjects on the line of those thirds for a more pleasing shot. Another aspect of composition which can and very often is overlooked is not just the positioning of the subject but of the photographer too. We all walk around looking at the world from our respective heights and much of it can look quite mundane, If we try changing our perspective/position things can and do start to look much more interesting. Try kneeling or even lying flat on the ground getting a worms eye view of the world around you, or standing on a wall or on the top of a building. Just try things that are a little bit different and you will see that pictures start to look a little bit more interesting. |

Re: viewpoint!!
When my twin boys were about seven or eight, I gave them cameras for a birthday or Christmas. The photos they took were a real eye-opener on their view of the world. The shots inevitably were obscured by fencing or people standing in front of them. Shots of buildings and people had the camera pointing up, making everything look really huge.
I made albums up for them, and often used to look through them. To see the world through the eyes of a child made me feel quite humble. |
