Re: advise
Ohhh I want a Nikon D80!
Guess I'm stuck with my D50 (which I'm very happy with by the way even though it's not as good). Not sure what part of the globe you're from but the Nikon D80 was rated the best value for money by the Choice magazine in Australia....our holy grail for rating products. That makes it a top choice |

Re: advise
Hi Ted and welcome to Pixalo. The D80 is top-rate camera. The 18-70 lens is an excellent walkabout. The 18-135, in my opinion doesn't rate as good since it apparently lacks sharpness at the long end. You can see some member's reviews of the 18-70 in our Equipment Reviews section. If you wait for a Nikon member you'll prolly get a better answer.

Re: advise
Yes, on the strength of other members experience, the 18-135 appears to have issues. I have the 18-70 kit lens on my D70s, and am very happy with it. I do think it offers the best value starter lens. After you have had the camera for a bit, you will know what other lenses you need to suit your rerquirements.
I only had my 18-70 kit lens for quite a while before adding a Sigma 10-20 and 70-200. Another option you might want to consider is the 18-200, thought by many to be the ultimate walkabout lens. Nikon do one with VR, and the Sigma 18-200 is also hightly rated, although it does not have VR. I think that Sigma have just released an 18-200 with stabilisation too.
