frances

Hello, I am frances and am lucky to own a D70 and a D200 Nikon camera, I love taking photos, but have never recieved any formal schooling for photography, I muddle through somehow, but would love to learn more, right now I have read on forums that some people clean their sensors , and would like some advice on how to do that, I have some dust which comes up on some of my photos when I view them on my computer, I use photoshop to erase them, but would like to know how to get rid of the dust safely, myself, if there is such a way? Thank-you very much for any advice you will kindly give me.

Re: frances

Hi Frances and welcome to Pixalo. Rob Barron has produced a good tutorial on sensor cleaning here. Personally I use the Copperhill method. Whichever you choose, as Rob has said, it is a bit daunting at first but it isn't rocket science. If you have any more questions, just ask.

Re: frances

Hi there and welcome to pixalo,
there should be info on this in your camera manual.
Best to place a new thread in maybe the General photography questions and answers forum regarding the cleaning of sensors.Just remember if you damage the sensor you loose any waranty on camera.I always get the better half to clean mine
Also you may not always get 100% dust removed. You can pay someone to clean sensor but our theory on this is ,they are only doing the same as us so why throught the money away ,but thats our choice everyone is different.
Welcome to pixalo and look forward to seeing some of your pics.

Just read the tutorial for this ,found it easy to understand and extremely straight forward. and very helpful . This ,and the tutorial Rob had done ,are both straight forward and extremely helpful in understanding all aspects including the do's and dont's in cleaning the sensors . Its only a personal preference in to which method you use, providing you end up with the results of dust free sensors at the end.
