Good morning
From another new member also called Mike.
Summerleft referred me here so she is the one to blame! A bit about myself. I started photography when I was about 14 years old when I got a Praktica SLR which was used and abused until I started college when photography got forgotten. Then in 2000 I was involved in this accident which in 2006 afforded me to leave work to learn photography. I got back into photography in the end of 2005 when I bought a little A520 to take on holiday, started clicking and never stopped. Of course I thought the shots were brilliant but later in 2006 I decided if I wanted to do photography, even as a hobby, I should at least learn about it. I started a course, which I failed to finish for various reasons, but in starting the course I learnt so much in such a short time - but it didn't even scratch the surface. I learnt enough to transform from a happy snapper to at least understanding some basics of what I was wanting to do. The course was film based which I found a disappointment at first as I wanted to try out my new whiz bang 350d I'd bought just before starting the course! I also had bought a 3000v film body and within a month I'd forgotten all about digital as I was enjoying the film side so much - being forced to think about the shot due to limited exposures etc, development was like a wet dream for someone who likes to get technically hands on. After leaving the course to try and increase my savings (returned to work + house move) I've not managed to do half as much as I'd like to do. I am in the process of converting a spare room into a mini studio. I used my compensation and invested in a portable studio kit and a 5d (actually sold my motorbike for the 5d )The studio, as of this evening, should be complete and it will be interesting to see how it turns out. I'm trying to avoid using paper etc to keep costs down but to also maximise the floorspace available. I'm leaving the floorboards visible to trial how the shots look, if its a disaster I have found some dance floor matting to cover the floor with. Its all early days. I think that should about cover the introduction! The aim now is to take some normal looking portraits too just to build up my portfolio. Michael |

Re: Good morning
cheers again all. Been a busy few days and trying to keep track of where I'm at, what forums I've recently joined has been a handful!
Just competed my first shoot in the converted bedroom studio and the results aren't bad! Very pleased with the outcom but need to brush up a little on the lighting as its been a while! |
