I'm Tom and after checking several photography forums, this place seems to be the best I've come across. I've been using digital cameras since my first Epson 640X480 and finally went out and got the Canon EOS Rebel XTi, (400D). After using Fuji point and shoots, even some high end models, my next logical step up was a decent entry level dSLR. I have the default 18-55mm f5.4 lens but definitely want to add some fast glass to my system. Additions now include 4 new batteries and 4 gb of Sandisk CFII (2-1gb and 1-2gb).

I am a photography 'serious amateur' at this point but have been told I have an excellent eye. I'm looking forward to learning about lenses, shooting conditions, equipment and learning how to make my camera an extension of my own eye.

SO... thanks for the great site and I'm looking forward also to getting to know people with the same interest as well as learning from all you pros here!
