"Headhunted"
Hi everyone, just joined this board after being made aware of this site by EOSd... headhunted, poached, call it what you want but disgraceful behaviour
Nice looking site to my eyes, well laid out and some attractive standard pages as well. I'm almost exclusively a bird photographer... making a bit out my photography, but not so much that I'm looking at birds as a bundle of fivers instead of a bundle of feathers. One of the early pioneers of a method called 'digiscoping', which also helps pay the rent, written numerous magazine articles and a couple of booklets (Nikon sponsored) about the method as well as teaching the method at residential seminars. I co-run/admin a big board of 24,000 members (gallery of 40,000) but not photography based.... so at least I know all the hassles that the staff here have to endure. Just got my hands on a Nikon D2x and getting to know this new beast... said goodbye to my trusty old Fuji S2 pro this afternoon. cheers, Andy

Welcome aboard Andy. Good catch by EosD I'd have to say!
We've got loads of squirels and song birds around by us. I can't wait to get a long enough lens to get some decent shots. I can do most of it without getting off the carpet - I'm far too idle to get my arse out there and actually do it in the wild. Two years ago, we had a pair of sparrow hawks raise three young in a nest not 40 feet from our window, and I'd just sold all my gear prior to changing to digital! LOL OK... butt then! |

Glad you decided to have a look! Thanks for the postive comments, always nice to be appreciated! Headhunted..lol, like that...
I was reading about digiscoping just last night in Digital Camera magazine...very interesting technique, how did you get into that? We are always looking for interesting articles and the like, so if you have anything you wouldnt mind donating that would be great! You could give us your thoughts on the D2x too if you get the time! Enjoy your time with us and i hope that we can give something back to you through the forums |

Thanks for the welcome everyone, greatly appreciated. There's some excellent photos in the gallery section, with far more imagination involved than I could ever hope to emulate. Not entirely sure how one goes about creatinga gallery... i suppose I'll find out soon enough.

btw: I expect you know, but the gallery section of your own site is not accessible? cheers, Andy |

I'm also looking at ways to protect the images from image theft. As for gallery space, send Matty 'eosD' a pm he will arrange it for you, and usually very quickly. |

Matt: Personally, I wouldn't bother unless you pay to use digimarc... nothing will stop someone using your image if they want to, though you can make it tougher for the casual image thief, or at least remind people that the image is subject to copyright if they do a right click. I've managed to earn some serious ££ by using google image search to find commercial sites using my images... it's often cheaper for them to pay up rather than get their web people to remove them. Even had one guy selling compilation cd's of bird images (containing about 50 of my images) on ebay, an out and out pirate with no understanding or care about copyright, but even he paid up in the end. Let them have them, then reap the rewards  Cheers, Andy |

Hello sir, I am really sorry as I missed your grand entrance however as the others have said you are very welcome here. I see you have already offered some good advice to some of our members (that’s how I discovered you had joined) and thank you for taking the trouble effort.
Thanks also for the kind words about the site [smilie=t: Hopefully you will stick around and join in the banter as well? |

I'm less inclined to recommend digiscoping to the out and out photographer though. cheers, Andy |
