Hi All,

Just making my first post in these 'ere forums.

I'm 29, a techie by profession and quite into my photography (on a personal/hobbyist basis!). I'm firmly in the camp of shooting in raw, playing around in Photoshop and taking my time, which means I'm not very prolific!
I currently use a Canon 20D and if I hadn't just become a dad for the first time, I'd be looking very seriously at the 40D. In fact, I'm looking seriously at it anyway but only drooling from a distance at the moment.

I use Coppermine as my gallery in case you want a peek at my pics to date - link in signature below.

Some of you may know me from another photo forum...

I've been a bit slack at posting anywhere recently, though, as I've been too distracted by fitting the rest of life around this young lady:

Funny but I seem to remember that name....

Great to see you again GS, and hope you're managing to get some sleep. You can see from my Avatar that they've got no taste here.

There's no accounting for taste, it's true.

I've been getting a reasonable amount of sleep - about 5 hours ish - certainly a lot more than Ann's been getting, which means I can't complain despite feeling tired. Ah well...

I doubt it, but if so it is more Graf Spee than Bismarck.

And I'm sure GS will explain the name when he comes off nappy-changing duties.

Silkstone is very naughty to have raised false expectations of an interesting story around my screenname...

The truth is that several years ago I registered for MS Messenger or summat and the automatically-generated screenname was Gainful Shrimp. I decided I quite liked it for some reason, dunno why.
So the truth about my screenname is that it was a lucky accident.

Dunno about the sinking ship thing. I can't smell anything, Soupie, but then again my nose is now calibrated to deal with nappies.
